Door Dash Expanding Deliveries with Dash Force

About a year ago, I accepted an order from Walgreens pharmacy. I was confused and didn’t know what to expect. I had no idea that Door Dash partnered with pharmacies and added shopping orders to the platform. I had to physically go into Walgreens and shop for the customer. I was okay with this, but other Dashers were not. I spoke with Door Dash support and they informed me that I could remove pharmacy deliveries from my profile so that I am no longer assigned those opportunities. I decided to keep the opportunities flowing. I started to hear that Door Dash is expanding their delivery service with more types of deliveries and more opportunities so I started to dig deeper. Here is what I learned.

COVID-19 Tests

Now in 2021, DoorDash is adding COVID-19 tests to their delivery service. You could potentially receive an order to go to a pharmacy and pick up a COVID-19 test for someone. These are all contact-less deliveries, but there is still a risk. You can still contact the DoorDash support team to remove all future COVID-19 test and pharmacy orders if you choose.

Dash Force

On April 8, 2021, I received an email from Door Dash welcoming me to the Dash Force. While this may sound like a new Marvel superhero team, the Dash Force consists of Dashers that help improve and promote the Door Dash Platform. There are four ways to contribute as a member of the Dash Force:

Print & Distribute Photo Flyers to Stores

The Opportunity: Print and deliver flyers to local stores.  These flyers will encourage restaurants to submit food photos or schedule a food photoshoot.

Payment: You will receive $4.50 for each successful flyer delivery. You must complete the flyer delivery for all restaurants in your opportunity to be paid. Submit a photo of your flyer in the store to get paid.

Pickup & Distribute Photo Flyers to Stores

The Opportunity: Pickup printouts and deliver flyers to local stores.  These flyers will encourage restaurants to submit food photos or schedule a food photoshoot.

Payment: You will receive $4.00 for each successful flyer delivery. You must complete the flyer delivery for all restaurants in your opportunity to be paid. Submit a photo of your flyer in the store to get paid.

Photograph a Store’s Menu Items

The Opportunity: Photograph a restaurant’s menu items.  These photos will be used on the DoorDash app/website to encourage customers to order food from the restaurant.

Payment: Payment will be based on the number of qualifying photos submitted and approved. You will receive $50 if you submit 10 photos that meet the quality requirements and are approved.  You must submit at least 10 approved photos to receive payment.  You will receive $5 for any additional approved photo.

Restaurant Drop offs

The Opportunity: Deliver collateral from a local printing store to a nearby restaurant.  The collateral will be printed for your pick up at no cost to you. You need to deliver the collateral on the day you select in the form.

Payment: You will receive $4.50 for each successful collateral delivery. You will need to submit a photo of the collateral in the store to get paid.

Conclusion

Door Dash recently announced that they consider themselves a delivery service, not a food delivery service. Everything is on the table. Early last year, Door Dash started piloting deliveries through Wal-Mart. They don’t plan to stop there. I wouldn’t be surprised if DoorDash tries to replace auto parts delivery companies like NAPA. In the near future, you could be heading to AutoZone to pick up a car part for a mechanic shop or a customer. You could be picking up packages from warehouses so that you can “ship” online orders. The possibilities are endless for Door Dash. While this will create more opportunities to earn money, the variation in orders, order requirements, and customer types can be stressful. What do you think? Should Door Dash continue expanding? Do you mind delivering anything from anywhere? Are you interested in joining the Dash Force?
